Adams Update – 9/17/18 – PTA, Jog-a-thon and More…

Good Morning Adams Families,

We are off to a great start with our second full week of school.

Thanks for having your child here on time and ready to learn each day.  Student and teachers have settled into routines, the cafeteria is humming along, getting kids breakfast and lunch and we have recognized hundreds of kids for positive behavior with Awesome Alligator Awards. Please read on for more news you can use.

Jog-a-Thon Season is Here!  Jog-a-thon is September 26th.

Jog-a-Thon is our largest fundraiser of the year and it is just around the corner!  Packets should have come home with your child on Friday.  Thanks for taking the time to read this information and help out in any way that you can.  Funds from this fundraiser support ALL kids at Adams by providing:

  • field trips – salmon watch, plays, outdoor school, Mt. Pisgah,  and more
  • educational technology – upgrades to projectors, student tech and specialized apps
  • subscriptions to Scholastic News, Reading A to Z, Xtramath and more
  • art experiences, meet the masters, artist residencies and art supplies
  • school garden project and support
  • upgraded playground equipment for kids who work hard and play hard

It is our intention to not ask parents to send in additional funds when we have one of the above needs, rather, fund these things from our school-wide fundraising efforts.  Thanks for supporting this fundraiser in any way you are able.

Kids at Adams Before School

Please remember that we do not have supervision on the playground before the school day.  Students who arrive early need to walk bikes on campus and adhere to school rules and expectations, just as if they were on recess.  Unless your child is eating breakfast in the cafeteria, he or she should not arrive before 8:10

Kids and Cell Phones

We know that many of our older students have a phone for after school communication with parents and families.  Please be aware that it is our policy that phones, and other electronics are to be turned off and put away once students arrive on campus.  Thank you for you support with this message
